Frequently asked questions...
What happens in my consultation?
I offer you a free no obligation 15 minute telephone consultation. During this time we will discuss your needs and what you may wish to gain from having counselling. You can then decide if you feel comfortable with me. Should your needs go beyond what I feel I am able to offer at that time, I would do my very best to recommend you to someone who is more suitable.
How long is a session?
A session normally lasts for fifty five minutes.
How often should I have counselling?
Normally counselling is weekly or fortnightly. It is often counter productive to go beyond that as continuity can be disrupted and you may gain less from your therapy. I am happy to provide both long term and short term therapy as required.
What is the purpose of therapy?
The purpose of therapy is to have a safe place to talk through issues & difficulties you are having in a safe and non-judgmental space. Therapy can help you to break negative patterns of behavior and reflect on your thinking and emotional states. I integrate several different methods of therapy including Somatic experiencing which means I work with your bodily sensations and felt sense. I can also work with you on trauma & PTSD symptoms.
What should I expect from therapy?
As a therapist it is not my job to tell you what to do and advise you other than if I felt you were harming yourself in some way.
